Arnel Campaner Pineda is a Filipino singer and songwriter who gained prominence in the Philippines during the 1980s and internationally in 2007. Pineda started as the lead singer of the Filipino group Ijos at 15 years old and later formed Amo, which won the Rock Wars contest in the Philippines. In 1988, Amo entered the Philippines leg of the Yamaha World Band Explosion and won the Philippines leg. In 1990, Pineda and other members formed Intensity Five and entered the Yamaha World Band Explosion again, winning the Best Vocalist award. In 1990, Amo members split and formed New Age, which released their only album in 1990. Pineda and New Age performed in Hong Kong, where they performed at Grammy's. In 1999, Pineda recorded a solo album, Arnel Pineda, with slow ballads and upbeat numbers. He wrote and arranged several songs and continued to perform with New Age.
