Bamboo, a Filipino alternative rock band, was formed in 2003 by lead vocalist Bamboo Mañalac, bassist Nathan Azarcon, rhythm guitarist Ira Cruz, and drummer Vic Mercado. The band's name is derived from the word bamboo, which symbolizes strength, durability, and an island feel. The band's members, including Mañalac, Cruz, and Mercado, were former members of Rivermaya and Kapatid.
