Hotdog, a Filipino band formed by brothers Dennis and Rene Garcia, gained fame in the mid-1970s in the Philippines. Their first album, Unang Kagat, was released in 1974 and led to the 1975 movie of the same name. The band was credited as a major influence on the Manila Sound, a popular musical genre during that period. The band's music, known as the "Manila Sound," created a fresh, authentic Pinoy sound that captured millions of Filipinos of all socio-economic classes. Many of their singles became hits and received gold and platinum status. Despite their success, Hotdog disbanded in the mid-'80s due to individual interests. The band reunited in 2000 to perform gigs and held a benefit concert for the Tacloban victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Lead vocalist Rene Garcia died in 2018, while Dennis Garcia died in 2020.
