Jessa Zaragoza, born Richelle Ann Mallari Loyola-Avanzado, is a Filipino commercial model, singer, and actress known as the "Phenomenal Diva" and "Jukebox Queen of the 90s." She gained fame through her debut studio album Just Can't Help Feelin in 1997, featuring the hit single "Bakit Pa?". Zaragoza was part of various variety shows and comedy shows, including That's Entertainment and Alabang Girls on ABC. She also guested on GMA and Viva Entertainment TV programs. Zaragoza signed with OctoArts EMI Philippines (now PolyEast Records) in 1997 and released her debut album, Just Can't Help Feelin, in 1997. She later transferred to ABS-CBN from 2000 to 2004, signing a deal with its recording company Star Records. She released her next two albums, Ibigay Mo Na (2000) and Kahit Na Ilang Umaga (2004), and sang theme songs for soap operas and TV series. In 2001, she sang the theme song for the ABS-CBN afternoon soap, Recuerdo de Amor, and starred in the sitcom Attagirl. In 2003, she sang the theme song for ABS-CBN's Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas. In 2004, she participated in the Himig Handog Songwriting Contest and collaborated with her husband, Dingdong Avanzado, on the duet album, Laging Ikaw. In 2007, controversy erupted between Zaragoza and Rufa Mae Quinto, who allegedly interpreted and stated that Zaragoza was the reason for their breakup. Zaragoza defended herself against the allegations in a live interview on GMA's Startalk.
